Detox diets are the latest fad

A warning from The British Dietetic Association is that ‘detox diets’ which thousands of people go on after overindulging during the Christmas period are in fact a load of hogwash. The British Dietetic Association that represents over 6,000 nutritionists around the United Kingdom stated that there was no “lotion or potion” which could remove chemicals from the body. Nutritionists speaking on behalf of the association said that the body cleaned itself naturally and that by eating special foods you would not accelerate the process. The BDA claimed that the big industry in selling special detox food and drink was ‘pseudo scientific’ and that no real build up of toxins in the body actually occurred. Dr Frankie Phillips speaking on behalf of the BDA went as far as to say that the whole concept of detox was ‘nonsense’.

Detox Diets Are Rubbish Say BDA

Detox diets are the latest fad and are often used by people who are feeling guilty about over eating and over drinking. You often hear people on a Monday morning saying that they are ‘detoxing’ after a heavy weekend. There is a big industry which has cottoned onto the demand for detox products such as special detox drinks and detox eating plans and they will not be happy about the recent comments from The British Dietetic Association.

Celebrities have also jumped onto the bandwagon with Carol Vorderman launching a special range of detox weight loss plans which explain how certain pollutants and chemicals remain in the body and need to be removed with special diets. The British Dietetic Association said that the only way to keep your body free of unhealthy chemicals was to drink a lot of water and to eat healthily. They said that the body’s natural cleaning system would benefit from the body being well hydrated.

I always feel worse after eating detoxing foods like celery and carrots. Nothing like a pint and a pizza to cure a hangover....

yes it is true that eating healthily and drinking lots of water are the best way....but...do you think you can do it after a food binge??? so maybe the feeling that you are on a detox diet may keep you on the right road for a couple of days!
