Celebrity Chefs Irresponsible With Recipes

celebrity chefs should be aware that they are incredibly influential

Some celebrity chefs in the United Kingdom are under fire after a group calling themselves the Fat Panel examined the recipes that they published in their respective cookbooks and found that they contained an excessive amount of fat.

Celebrity Chefs Irresponsible With Recipes

For example Nigella Lawson and Gordon Ramsey have published recipes which have more than the complete recommended fat intake for a whole day in just one serving or portion. In all the Fat Panel examined individual recipes from sixteen different celebrity chefs and saw that most of them fell short of recommended nutritional standards. Only Jamie Oliver and Delia Smith came out smelling of roses and were given a grudging nod of approval by the Fat Panel.

The Fat Panel noted that celebrity chefs should be aware that they are “incredibly influential” in determining what people eat and therefore they should take it upon themselves to be more responsible with the nutritional content of their recipes.

On the other hand it should be noted that when you eat food from cookbooks it tends to be for special occasions and therefore it is not the food that you would eat normally everyday. It is therefore pretty obvious that food in cookbooks will be focusing on being tasty and delicious as opposed to being healthy.

Nevertheless Jamie Oliver seems to be able to combine the two and this will give him more credibility with his campaign to get Britain healthy. In fact there’s no reason why you cannot eat delicious food and also eat healthily at the same time as proved by the diet such as the Mediterranean diet.

Using good quality ingredients and relying only on healthy natural oils you can eat well and live well.  It’s all about striking a balance and focusing on quality rather than quantity.
