Cardio Is Boring

OK, let’s face it, cardio is pretty boring! Going to the gym and running on a treadmill in the same spot for half an hour or more every day is not just a physical exertion but also a mental challenge because it’s pretty dull. From our research at Ukmedix News we reckon that as many people fail to exercise because they get bored of the gym as those who fail because they just don’t have the physical energy to continue. There are solutions to the problem of boring cardio and one of them is to just stop doing so much of it! If the idea of 30 minutes on the treadmill fills you with dread then just don’t do it and think of something else to do instead.

One of the best ways to stop the monotony of your workout is to vary it every day. You should try and incorporate fast repetitions of weights to build up your upper and lower body on different days which will not only tone up your muscles but also act as a cardio workout. For example if you stop between sets of exercises for only between 30 or 45 seconds you will be constantly out of breath and burning calories. You can incorporate for example ten minutes of running, ten minutes of high intensity weight training, then ten minutes of say cycling and then another set of weights which will keep your brain busy throughout the workout as well as your body.
Some individuals find that by listening to music, watching the television in the gym or by running outside along a promenade or in the park they can keep their mind busy but for others this is not enough and that is why we recommend a varied and versatile workout. Introducing high intensity weights into your workout has also been shown to actually be more effective for burning fat than pure cardio alone so it’s definitely worth giving it a try.
