Have you noticed that in recent years diet fizzy drinks like Diet Coke seem to be getting lots of bad press and even normally intelligent people talk about diet drinks as if they are some sort of poison! These same people (many of whom are overweight) order normal sugar laden versions of fizzy drinks as they warn everybody about the dangers of sweeteners like aspartame.

Nobody likes going on a diet and in an ideal world we wouldn't have to drink diet versions of Coke and Pepsi but because they have so much sugar in them they are loaded with calories which will make you put on weight. Having a Diet Coke or a Coke Zero means that you have no calories to worry about.
So what is it exactly that makes Diet Coke so terrible? Some people argue that you can actually get addicted to Diet Coke and that the compounds and chemicals in it can cause cancer and depression! Well, it is all very well for them to say it but do they actually have any concrete evidence backed up by reputable clinical studies which have been accepted by any medical authority in any part of the world? If you look on the internet you will find that some studies have been done but there's no conclusive proof that drinking diet fizzy drinks can do you any harm.
On the other side of the argument there is a huge amount of evidence which is apparent for everybody to see that normal fizzy drinks with sugar in them cause huge amounts of obesity and therefore diabetes, depression, heart disease and cancer to name just a few of the associated illnesses. The idea that you don't drink diet drinks and go for the normal versions because they might cause cancer is just plain stupid because you are much more likely to get cancer from drinking normal fizzy drinks then you are from the diet version.
It's just a question of examining the clinical evidence and doing the maths! Use your brain and your common sense if you want to lose weight because it is the most effective way to shed the pounds.
