At Ukmedix News we have often expounded on the virtues of following a Mediterranean diet and have reported on research projects which show that this diet can help you maintain a healthy weight and a healthy heart. We have also stressed that unlike many other diets the Mediterranean diet can be extremely tasty and varied which makes it much easier to stick to.

Sometimes however people claim that when they go on the Mediterranean diet they don’t lose any weight and have written to us at Ukmedix News asking for more advice. Well the most important tip that we can give those who are dieting is to be proactive about what they eat. They should not be looking at what they need to cut out of their diet but what they need to put into their diet.
For example one of the hallmarks of the Mediterranean diet is a whole variety of fruits and vegetables. If you are serious about losing weight you need to increase the proportion of fruit and vegetables that you eat every day. If you were to make a pledge to get 50 percent of your daily food intake from fruit and vegetables you would almost certainly lose weight.
Fruit and vegetables can be delicious if they are fresh and well prepared and with such a large variety available in supermarkets today there is no excuse for not eating them. Always make sure that you only buy the very best vegetables and fruit because there’s nothing worse and more demoralising than eating things which are tired and lacking flavour.
A Mediterranean diet also requires that you eat a considerable amount of fish every week and that you consume a regular dose of whole grains. A very simple weight loss tip which has helped thousands of people to maintain a healthy weight is to eat a large bowl of porridge every morning for breakfast. Porridge will release energy slowly into your system and keep you full up for hours and prevent you from being tempted to snack unhealthily.
If you make a commitment to be proactive about what you eat and make little changes to your eating lifestyle you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to lose weight and maintain weight loss in the long term.

I heard that the Mediterranean diet is one of the best to loose way, but I also heard that one of the reasons why the diet doesn’t work for some people is because the abuse with the oil and different kinds of dressings and this is because when you are not used to eat vegetables all the time you can find them tasteless!!
