At Christmas Lunch Have Seconds

you should stuff yourself until you cannot move on Christmas Day!

At Ukmedix News we are firm believers in eating well at Christmas time. Yes you should eat mince pies, yes you should have a double helping of turkey at Christmas lunch and yes you should stuff yourself until you cannot move on Christmas Day!

No, we are not advocating obesity here but merely pointing out that on certain special occasions the rules are there to be broken! And we would even go as far as to argue that by breaking the rules every now and again you actually have a healthier outlook on life and a more realistic way of dealing with long term weight maintenance.

If you are somebody who struggles to keep their weight in check do not over indulge every single day during the Christmas period but just try and maintain a balance between days where you eat a lot and days when you cut back and compensate with small portions.

Exercise is probably the single most effective way of keeping your weight from ballooning over the Christmas period. Just because it is holiday time does not mean that you also get a holiday from the gym or your regular run! In fact you should use the extra time on your hands to do extra and longer workouts. Just think of all the calories that you will be burning off!

One of the best ways to work off a big Christmas lunch is to go for a long walk after it. Not only is it healthy but it is fun too and will help you to work up a healthy appetite for Christmas dinner too!!

The biggest mistake you can make is to think short term for weight loss and weight maintenance. Your eating plans should be formulated as an overall life plan as opposed to a seasonal yoyo pattern of weight loss and weight gain.

I break the rules every weekend. I give myself one day off to motivate myself in dieting for the rest of the week. IT REALLY works!!
