a crisis in this country

In America, obesity is not just a health problem and a financial problem for the state but is fast becoming an issue of national security according to new reports which show that efforts to enlist recruits into the American army are becoming an uphill struggle as so many of the potential soldiers are overweight or obese.

American National Security Weakened By Obesity

Official government reports show that over the last four years almost 50,000 men and women had to be rejected simply on the basis that they were too overweight. The report also noted that there may be thousands more men and women who would have liked to have enlisted but didn’t even bother turning up to recruiting offices because they knew they would be turned away.

Curtis Gilroy, the head of army accessions at the Pentagon described the problem as “a crisis in this country” when he was asked to speak to the House Armed Services Committee’s military personnel subcommittee. He said that physical fitness problems were also becoming more apparent as the youth of America succumbed to a couch potato lifestyle.

Another senior military man, Major General Thomas Bostick who is in overall charge of the Army Recruiting Command reckons that obesity will end up being the single largest obstacle that the young men and women will face in the future when they want to join the army. He suggested setting up a government sponsored program which would help those who wanted to join the army but were too overweight.

Obesity is responsible for so many people failing to achieve their full potential and being frustrated that they cannot do what they really want to do. Some men and women claim that they never really wanted to do certain things but in fact they are just unable to deal with their weight problem and thus they live in denial of their real desires.

If you have a weight problem you should be honest about the fact that it may well be preventing you from doing many things which could greatly enhance the quality of your life as well as boost your health. Ukmedix News says don’t procrastinate and do something about your weight right now. It’s well worth the effort and you wont regret it!
