Advert Causes Obese People To Be Offended

When the aliens come, they will eat the fatties first!

Overweight and obese individuals tend to be extremely sensitive about their weight and this has been highlighted by a recent advertising campaign for the fitness centre of the Cadbury House Hotel in Bristol which used the slogan “When the aliens come, they will eat the fatties first!" While normal weight individuals will see it as nothing but harmless fun many overweight people said that they found it offensive and demeaning.

Advert Causes Obese People To Be Offended

At Ukmedix News we personally found the advertisement harmless and simply a little bit of a laugh but we would welcome comments from people of all different weights about whether they firstly feel that the advertisement is offensive and secondly whether they think they are possibly hypersensitive to their weight problem. The fact is that obesity is an extremely uncomfortable condition to live with not only physically but also psychologically because of the negative impression that it gives off.  Even doctors are known to perceive overweight people as being less intelligent and lazier than normal weight people which over time makes them defensive and sensitive to any perceived insults.

The Cadbury House Hotel has issued a statement saying that they did not want to cause offence with the advertisement and that it was merely a “tongue-in-cheek look” at the way that people tended to put on weight over the Christmas festivities. It may be that if you find this advertisement offensive you are possibly suffering from the psychological harm that being overweight or obese brings on.

Being called ‘fat’ is one of the most insulting things that you can call somebody even if they are of a normal weight and ‘fat’ is sometimes nicknamed the new F-word. If you need motivation as to why you should lose weight try not only to focus on the physical health benefits such as increased mobility, a reduced likelihood of heart disease, cancer and many other illnesses but also realise that the chances are you’ll be a much happier, relaxed and more easy going person if you lose weight.

Of course fat people are sensitive to someone calling them fat........... if you were lame would you like someone to call you lame? In fact nobody would, so the same treatment should be received for whatever the ailment.

If you are sensitive about your weight you are obviously not happy about it so you should do something about it. Don't complain about it... do something!!
