In the town of Monterrey in Mexico health officials have come up with a plan for Father’s Day which is bound to be controversial. Father’s Day which falls on June 15th in Mexico has been chosen to launch the “Healthy Dad” campaign. Senor Edgar Dimas who is the communications director at the Escobedo Mayoral office in Monterrey said that all fathers would be given out free packages which contained razors, condoms and Viagra.

He went on to say that doctors accompanied by assistants would be going around busy shopping centres and plazas and those men who were seen to be healthy after a quick examination would be handed out the Viagra with a prescription. Those fathers who did not pass the medical check would have to make do only with the razors and condoms.
Senor Dimas said that this campaign was designed to foster awareness about the problems of unhealthy living and the need for men to exercise more. Cynics however say that this was just a way of politicians buying power and that it was irresponsible to hand out Viagra in this way. There is also likely to be opposition from women who don’t like the fact that their men are being given Viagra and condoms freely.
This is not the only time that Ukmedix has seen local authorities handing out Viagra and only recently a mayor in Chile handed out Viagra to all males over the age of 60. Politicians in Thailand were implicated in a scandal at their last election for trying to buy votes with Viagra and it seems that the idea is catching on in different areas of the world.
For those men living in the United Kingdom it seems unlikely that politicians here would stoop to such a level to buy votes so don’t get too excited but then again you never know how desperate they may get!
