An expert sports scientist has predicted that the erectile dysfunction medication Viagra and other completely legal drugs will play a big part in the 2008 Olympics being staged in Beijing. Robin Parisotto who helped to develop testing which was used to detect use of the banned blood booster EPO explained that many drugs which were not on the athletes banned list could in fact play a significant part in enhancing performance.

Viagra for example is known to dilate the arteries which can improve the absorption of oxygen but the World Anti-Doping Agency has said that while it is considering putting Viagra on the list of banned drugs it will not make a decision until after the Beijing Olympics. Other drugs which are allowed to be used by professional athletes and which could also boost performance are psychological medicines.
Robin Parisotto explained that Viagra did not just the open up arteries and veins in the private parts but in all areas of the body and therefore any athlete who used it could gain a slight advantage. It is also likely that the other erectile dysfunction drugs Cialis and Levitra would have the same effect.
He also explained that psychological drugs which sharpened the thought process and prevented athletes from suffering from mental fatigue could also be of considerable benefit to athletes competing at the Olympics.
The temptation to use performance enhancing substances is very great for athletes who have spent many years training to become the very best in their respective sports. It may be that many athletes will use Viagra at the Beijing 2008 Olympics because they will feel that other competitors will be using it too, and they will also realise that it is not on the forbbiden list of the WADA at present.
At Ukmedix News we are speculating that the Beijing 2008 Olympics will be known as the Viagra Olympics in years to come.
