Recent research published by Ukmedix News shows that men who suffer from impotence and obstructive sleep apnea and who receive Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy can be cured of both conditions. Research done at the Institute of Urology at Lanzhou University in China has tried to evaluate whether treating men with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy could be as effective in curing erectile dysfunction as the world famous impotence drug Viagra.

Their research which was done in the form of a randomised clinically controlled trial used the International Index of Erectile Function domain scores and satisfaction levels to measure the effectiveness of the two different treatments. Seventy men took part in the trial and it was seen that overall the use of Viagra produced more successful sexual intercourse attempts when compared to the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy after twelve weeks of regular treatment. Researchers also noted that those men using the Viagra reported higher levels of satisfaction as did their partners.
The researchers were quick to point out that this did not mean that Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy should not be used to treat impotence but just that the Viagra was a superior treatment. They also noted that both treatments could be used to together. The use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy is also very effective for good quality sleep which in turn reduces stress levels, and has been shown to help people to eat healthily both of which have a positive effect on erectile function.
While Viagra may facilitate good erectile function the use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy may actually improve health too which could lead in the long term to not needing to use any of the erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra, Cialis or Levitra.
