The advertisement that everybody is talking about at the moment in America is the new one from Pfizer. Obviously it is advertising their erectile dysfunction drug Viagra and the title of the advertisement is “Viva Viagra”.

The advertisement features a group of men in their forties and fifties who are singing “Viva Viagra” using the tune of the famous Elvis Presley song “Viva Las Vegas”. The advertisement which will be shown when the NBC Nightly News is running is an attempt by Pfizer to boost the profile of their erectile dysfunction drug and to get people speaking about it again. Pfizer also said that the advertisements which were funny and light hearted would encourage people to talk about the problem of erectile dysfunction which they feel is the best way to encourage men to get medical help and advice.
There will be in a bit of criticism about the advertisements as many parents say that they do not like to see these erectile dysfunction adverts when they are watching TV especially if there are children present. However these advertisements will be shown late at night when it is hoped that children will not be watching.
Viagra is still the number one erectile dysfunction drug around the world however its sales are slowly reducing and this is mainly due to the popularity of the Cialis erectile dysfunction drug made by the drug firm Eli Lilly. Nevertheless Viagra still sells $1.7 billion a year and Pfizer executives say that this figure could get to $2 billion with the right sort of marketing.
Pfizer is also of the opinion that only about ten percent of men who experience erectile dysfunction in America actually come forward to get treatment for their condition meaning that the erectile dysfunction drug market has much more potential to grow.
