In a story that seems would have been thought of unthinkable a decade ago it appears that doctors all over the world are reporting a rise in the number of elderly people suffering from sexually transmitted diseases. Diseases like herpes and human papillomavirus are on the increase in retirement homes and other places frequented by the elderly community. The days when a man gave up thinking of sex after a certain age and a woman thought that her husband was sexual history are fast disappearing.
The drug Viagra and the new ones like Cialis and Levitra are partly responsible for this incredible turn of events. Men who thought that their sex days were over are now being able to have sex like they did years before and it seems that due to their age and most likely the age of their sexual partners they do not really have to worry about pregnancy much. This has led them to avoid the use of condoms and thus they are exposing themselves to the chances of STD's.
Older people often lived in environment that was not a savvy as the young are today with regard to STD's and thus some pensioners are paying the price now with their new found promiscuity. In Florida in the United States health officials are preparing an education drive that will focus on the fact that many elderly people are not so aware of STD's and need to more information on how to protect themselves.
Viagra works by relaxing the arteries that pump blood into the penile arteries and is still the most popular erectile dytsfunction medication in the world today. Cialis and Levitra have stolen market share but have yet to knock the little blue pill from its No.1 place yet.
