According to a research project done in Australia the simple act of sexual intercourse does not improve the health of a marriage. In the research project almost 100 couples were given over the course of six months either Viagra tablets or an identically looking placebo pill which they were allowed to use on a daily basis. Half the couples were handed the Viagra and the other half were given the placebo pills.

The results were disappointing in that all of the couples had reported problems with erectile dysfunction and it was hoped that the Viagra would enable them to have more sex and thus strengthen the emotional bond of their relationship. However at the end of the study the psychiatrist Dr James Hundertmark reported that there was no significant improvement in both the group who were given the Viagra tablets and also the group that were given the placebo medication.
Dr James Hundertmark who led this study said that there was no problem with the Viagra as the couples who used it on the whole reported that they were able to have sex more often, however he did say that the research showed up the importance of other things in a relationship as opposed to just simply sexual relations. Dr James Hundertmark is the chairman of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. The couples were assessed by being asked over 100 questions at the beginning of the study and at the end of the study about their relationship.
At Ukmedix News we have seen a lot of research about whether the use of erectile dysfunction medication can actually strengthen a relationship between a man and woman and there is conflicting the evidence about this. Dr Hundertmark did point out that maybe the majority of the couples who were taking part in this particular study already had strong relationships despite the fact that the men suffered from erectile dysfunction and therefore the regaining of the ability to have sex on a regular basis did not make much difference to what was an already strong and healthy relationship.
But there is no doubt however that in some cases erectile dysfunction medications have been responsible for saving failing marriages and relationships. Some doctors even suggest that Viagra should be prescribed to men who suffer from depression because it can completely change their outlook on life and make them open up and communicate better with their sexual partners.
As always communication is the key. If you want to use erectile dysfunction medication purely for sexual gratification the chances are that you will not actually strengthen the emotional bond between you and your sexual partner, however if the erectile dysfunction medication is used in the spirit of strengthening a relationship the chances are that both the man and the woman will feel sexually and emotionally fulfilled.
