Viagra Oysters Impounded By Police

They can sell for as much as £100 for a kilo

In Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates police authorities recently impounded large quantities of extremely rare oysters which are in fact protected species due to over fishing in the past. The oysters which were seized in the towns of Al Rams, Al Halila and Khor Khowair are extremely valuable because they are supposed to have even more potent aphrodisiac qualities than normal oysters.

Everybody knows about oysters supposedly being good for sexual function however these particular ones come in types which are locally called “Doch” and “Hama”. They are nicknamed Viagra oysters and can sell for as much as £100 for a kilo. The demand however for these particular Viagra oysters is extremely high and the fishermen cannot resist selling them on the black market because the prices are so good.

The Emirati police having received an anonymous tip off that some of the fishermen were selling the Viagra oysters to a number of select customers initiated a surprise inspection at the local fish markets which led to several arrests.

The fishermen are only allowed to catch these particular Viagra oysters for their own use and it is forbidden to sell them to anyone else. The police authorities said that the fishermen would be fined 500 Dhirams each for selling the oysters; however this is unlikely to deter them for long as one single kilo of the Viagra oysters sells for more than this.
