New Viagra Awareness Campaign by Pfizer

Pfizer the world's biggest pharmaceutical company has recently started a new campaign to raise awareness about erectile dysfunction. The campaign called Just Ask encourages men to speak to their doctors and ask about erectile dysfunction. The campaign is being led by an erectile dysfunction specialist called Dr. Drew who is well known in medical circles for his practical advice about sexual matters and the idea is to raise awareness of erectile dysfunction and just get men talking about it.

The reason that so much erectile dysfunction is not treated is because of the stigma surrounding it. Men feel humiliated when they suffer from erectile dysfunction and they see it as being connected with their ability to be a man. In fact the campaign tells us that erectile dysfunction is simply a medical problem and nothing more.

The campaign is also aimed at doctors, who are being encouraged to enquire with patients if they have any sexual function problems. Erectile dysfunction can be a symptom of a more serious and potentially fatal health problem like high blood pressure or coronary heart disease and so it can be a useful indicator of overall health.

Some surveys suggest that almost 50% of American males over forty years old have some level of erectile dysfunction yet very few of them discuss it with their doctor. Pfizer's survey put erectile dysfunction far down the list of health worries that men have (or admit to) and even doctors feel uncomfortable to ask about sexual function with their patients.

Pfizer is determined to get doctors and patients talking about erectile dysfunction as purely a simple, easily curable medical condition and to end the pain that millions of males go through due to embarrassment and social stigmas.
