First it was Mr Hayes, then it was Mr Goodfellow and now Miss Cottingham has become famous for his use of Viagra. You might be wondering what makes these people different from the millions of Viagra users in the UK (OK so the last one is a woman), and the answer is simple they are all under the age of two year old.

Ukmedix reported on the first two cases of underage Viagra in the UK and now it seems to be catching on with more doctors using the drug on young children in exceptional circumstances. In this most recent case the girl Erin Cottingham at only 1 year and 8 months was given the sildenafil drug for her heart and lung condition. Doctors are giving Erin a tiny little bit of Viagra everyday and that is what is keeping her alive.
Viagra works by opening up the penile arteries in men that enables the blood to flow more efficiently into the penis. It also has an effect on other arteries (like the ones between the heart and the lungs) that are blocked or not working properly. Erin has made medical history in the UK for being the first underage female to be properly prescribed Viagra. Ukmedix News has reported on other cases where older women were given Viagra to help them with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.
Erin has been suffering from heart and lung complications from the day she was born and has had to be linked up to special lifesaving machinery to keep her going. She has had a number of operations to help the blood flow to her lungs better and thanks to this and the Viagra she is now safely back home. It is likely that Erin will have to continue taking the Viagra for a number of years but if all goes well will eventually be able to live a normal life and much of the thanks will be due to the Viagra that opened up her arteries.
