Reports coming from Thailand say a politician has been accused of attempting to buy votes from potential voters by bribing them with Viagra tablets! Apparently the practice of buying votes in Thailand is a very old one and politicians usually hand out cash to people they want to vote for them. This is the first occasion that Viagra has been used for this reason however.

As of yet the candidate who has been handing out the Viagra has not been named but Sayan Nopcha who campaigns for the People's Power Party made the allegations against a rival but would not be drawn into identifying him or her. Apparently the pills were given out at social get togethers and were targeted at the elderly men.
In Thailand new rules about banning the handing out of favours to voters have been implemented which means that even giving out soft drinks or tee shirts is forbidden. It is possible to end up with a ten year prison sentence for not only handing out bribes but also for receiving them. This means that the old men receiving the Viagra could be putting themselves in danger of prison sentence.
As well as being illegal from a campaigning point of view it is also illegal to hand out any erectile dysfunction medication unless you are a licenced doctor and have issued a prescription. The candidate therefore who is giving out this Viagra will be on the wrong side of more than one law.
In nations in the Far East however most people manage to get Viagra without a prescription as the laws are rarely enforced and in fact most people therefore end up with fake versions of the drug.
If it is true about this Viagra being handed out at parties the chances are that it is a fake version of the Viagra tablet as a real version would be too expensive.
