The AIDS Healthcare Foundation has been very critical of Viagra...

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation has come out strongly against the new campaign to advertise the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra on TV’s around America. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation has been very critical of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra which they say is one of the reasons why the spread of AIDS has increased among the gay community and in older people too.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation Criticises Viagra Adverts

They argue that people who drink heavily and take drugs are able to sustain an erection for sexual intercourse when they use Viagra and thus they are having sex at a time when their responsibility is diminished.  This means that they often have unprotected sex and are therefore more likely to get AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation argues that Viagra should not be promoted as a recreational and fun drug but should only be given to people who have a serious erectile dysfunction problem. They said that the new advertisement which shows older people dancing and jumping around to the tune of Elvis Presley’s Famous song “Viva Las Vegas!” can only portray Viagra as a fun drug that anyone can use to enjoy themselves.

The president of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation said that the fact that Pfizer was associating itself with Las Vegas was a deliberate attempt by them to boost sales of the drug to people who did not need it and we just out to have a party. There is an expression which is “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation said that this definitely did not apply with the irresponsible use of Viagra. People who used to Viagra as a recreational drug for enhanced sexual activity when drinking and taking illegal substances were at a very high risk of contracting AIDS and the new advertisements were encouraging these people.

At Ukmedix News we always encourage the responsible use of erectile dysfunction medication and we always insist on getting a prescription before the drug is dispensed. Viagra, Cialis and Levitra are all prescription medications and should not be used casually as party drugs.
