In Los Angeles an organisation that lobbies for AIDS information and help has criticised the new spate of Viagra adverts that they say are causing people to look at Viagra as a recreational drug and not as a drug that is a serious medicine for men with erectile dysfunction.

The lobbyists argue that by using Viagra as a recreational drug it can greatly increase the chances of people spreading the HIV virus as they tend to have more promiscuous sex as opposed to monogamous relationships. This has not actually been proved but what is apparent is that straight and gay men use Viagra to be come aroused sexually when the drink and drugs that they have consumed affect their sexual abilities. In their cases this allows men to have sex when they are in an inebriated state and under the influence of drugs that may cause them not to think properly and responsibly.

The drug Viagra is especially effective with gay men who use an illegal drug called methadone and then who are unable to exercise erectile function. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation has announced that it will be running adverts in various newspapers in major US cities to warn about the recreational use of Viagra and to pressure Viagra into making sure that their advertising is always responsible and does not promote Viagra as a lifestyle drug.

Two adverts have recently come under fire, one in which a voice over announces to a middle aged couple that the Wild Thing is back and another has a couple smiling at each other when they are told that their movie has sold out and the line goes ‘What are you waiting for’…..
The head of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation said that these adverts were irresponsible because they are promoting Viagra as a party drug that can be used to have fun as opposed to help people who have a serious medical problem. He said that these drugs should not be used by men who just have mild erectile dysfunction but only to serious cases of impotence.

Ukmedix promotes the responsible use of Viagra and warns people that it should not be taken with illegal drugs.
