The United States Federal Trade Commission has decided to clamp down hard on a company called POM Wonderful which has for over a decade been promoting the idea that pomegranate juice can work wonders for a whole lot of different elements including erectile dysfunction.

The company which has sponsored $34 million worth of research into the benefits of pomegranates may well have to stop issuing any claims that there are any health benefits from pomegranate products unless the individual claims are given full approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Among other claims made by POM Wonderful is that drinking a glass of pomegranate juice every day can protect from prostate cancer and also prevent the buildup of arterial fatty deposits by as much as 30 percent.
The FTC has actually gone as far as to seek a legal injunction to prevent POM Wonderful claims from being published in any way regarding pomegranate juice and said that statements like "super health powers" should be stopped immediately. Mr. David Vladeck, the director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the FTC said that those people who believed that POM Wonderful products could protect them against disease had "been misled".
At Ukmedix News we have often reported that while the regulation of medication by the Food & Drug Administration is relatively strict and effective there is a huge problem in that dietary supplements to treat weight loss and erectile dysfunction are largely unregulated. This means that they can make outlandish claims about their effectiveness and safety and rarely get more than a slap on the wrist when they are exposed to be unsubstantiated.
At Ukmedix News over the last three years we have seen hundreds of media reports about how watermelons, the acai berry and pomegranates have some sort of magical affect on erectile function. There's obviously no harm in getting plenty of these fruits but they are not going to have any instant health effects on you and will not protect you from unhealthy living.
If you have an erectile dysfunction problem you should see a doctor sooner rather than later and he may be able to prescribe you one of the three erectile dysfunction medications Viagra, Cialis or Levitra.
