The world’s largest computer company and the world’s largest drug company have teamed up together to try and eradicate the vast numbers of spam emails that block up the internet and cause great inconvenience to regular computer users every day. Pfizer and Microsoft have filed seventeen individual legal actions against spammers who tried to sell fake versions of Viagra online. It is estimated that around 25 percent of all worldwide spam email involves Viagra.

The spammers who have become increasingly sophisticated use many different ways to make it look like their emails are genuine and actually come from Pfizer. Many people who buy drugs in response to these spam emails actually believe that what they are purchasing is genuine and legal when it is in fact being dispatched from an unlicensed illegally operating factory. Beth Levine, who is one of Pfizer's lawyers, explained that in the majority of cases the consumer was “completely unaware” that the ‘Viagra’ they were buying had been illegally manufactured and purchased.
Aaron Kornblum, a lawyer working on the Microsoft Internet Safety Enforcement Team explained that the spammers sometimes even go as far as registering web sites selling fake Viagra to real individuals who have no idea that their identities are being used for this purpose. This is the first time that Microsoft and Pfizer have worked together to track down internet spammers and it is hoped that good results will come from this collaboration.
At Ukmedix News we have written hundreds of news articles warning about the dangers of buying fake Viagra, Cialis or Levitra. We have exposed hundreds of criminal operators of fraudulent web sites who sell so called natural versions of erectile dysfunction drugs which turn out to be loaded with untested chemicals and which have on some occasions even resulted in death to the users.
The other thing which we have come to realise at Ukmedix News is that the only way to shut down these sites completely is to educate men into the dangers of replying to spam email. Trying to shut illegal online pharmacies by legal methods is time consuming and by the time the site is shut down another two spring up in its place.
