A new warning from the Department of Health in Hong Kong advises men to immediately stop using a Chinese medication called Kam Yuen Brand Wan Ying Yang Gan Wan. The warning from the DOH explained that the product contained unspecified quantities of the active ingredient of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra. This active ingredient called Sildenafil citrate is safe and effective to use only in carefully prescribed quantities and for certain men who have consulted with a doctor before using it. What is even more dangerous is using doctored compounds of this active ingredient which are so often found in so called natural Chinese medication for erectile dysfunction.

Unlike in most cases, the promoter of the product Kam Yuen Medicine Company actually tested the medication themselves during a routine product testing operation and found it to contain the Sildenafil citrate. They then immediately informed the Department of Health and organised a voluntary recall of the product.
