Reputable UK online pharmacies always issue a prescription

Customs agents in Ireland over the last few years have intercepted over 800 kilos of counterfeit and illegal medications sent through the post. A large part of this medication included fake versions of the erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. The scale of the trade in illegal impotence medication worldwide is huge as can be seen from the figures released by the Irish Revenue Investigations and Prosecutions department.

Irish Customs Have Intercepted 0.8 Tonnes Of Fake Meds

For example in 2007 almost 178,800 tablets of various kinds arrived in Ireland including many prescription medications from America.  In one month alone 30,000 Diazepam pills arrived from Pakistan. In 2008 following increased vigilance over ½ million tablets were intercepted from countries such as Bangladesh and China. In 2009 so far almost 220,000 tablets have been impounded by customs agents. These figures give you an idea of how large the worldwide market in fake medications is, most of it fuelled by impotence and weight loss meds.

In response to the growing problem the Irish Revenue Investigations and Prosecutions department has signed an agreement to cooperate with the Irish Medicines Board in an attempt to stop fake medicines arriving in Ireland. They will be stepping up the amount of prosecutions against individuals who seek to profit from these dangerous medications. Many people are tempted to buy fake medications because the prices are so much cheaper than the real thing however the quality is always substandard and in some cases the dangerously so. Just recently Ukmedix News published a report undertaken by the BBC which shows that in some cases blue printer ink is used to colour tablets to make them look like the genuine Viagra pills.

Mr. Denis Graham speaking on behalf of the Revenue's Investigations and Prosecutions department said that you didn’t require any” medical expertise to envisage the damage” that fake medications could cause. The Food & Drug Administration in America which has undertaken its own studies in this area said that buying prescription medications online without a prescription was like playing “Russian Roulette with your health.

Reputable UK online pharmacies always issue a prescription from a doctor and allow you to check the veracity of your medicine. Ukmedix for example uses Pharmacheck.

Its not surprising these things happen, it just confirms that we have to know where we are buying from and to stay well clear of sites that do not give prescriptions
