The law states that all medicines will be given to those people who require it

A row has erupted after a convicted paedophile was prescribed free Viagra on the National Health Service. Mr. Roger Martin who is 71 years old was recently spared a prison sentence after his lawyers pleaded that he was ill and the stress of prison would be too much for him. He had been charged eight months ago with sexually assaulting an eleven year old girl who he lured into his house on the promise of giving her money for doing housework.

The local Peterborough MP Mr. Stewart Jackson said it was outrageous that this man was continued to be prescribed Viagra however he did point out that the authorities were unable to do anything about it. The law clearly states that all medicines will be given to those people who require it and they cannot discriminate on the basis of criminal convictions.

Even if one doctor declined to prescribe Viagra to Mr. Martin if he really wanted the drug he could go to another doctor who didn’t know him. What makes this case so abhorrent to the general public is that he is getting it free and it is being paid for by our taxes.

Many individuals have argued that anybody name who is on the Sexual Offenders Register in the United Kingdom should be banned from being prescribed medication for Viagra, Cialis or Levitra.  Some people go even further and say that those who are sexual offenders should even be forcefully given medication to make sure that they are unable to get erections and therefore unable to offend again.

It is hoped that this case will get lawmakers to enact rules to make sure that people like Mr. Martin are not able to get their hands on Viagra, Cialis or Levitra or any form of medicine which will enable them to offend again.
