Fake Viagra Kills Again

At Ukmedix News we have often written about how fake versions of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra can actually kill and in yet another case seven people have lost their lives in a different sort of way because of it.

In this case seven deaths occurred after a violent fight in which a community of Nepalese Gurkas tried to defend their turf and prevent other people from encroaching on an area which contains a rare mountain fungus called yarsagumba or cordyceps sinesis which is supposed to have Viagra like qualities.
The fungus which only grows above 3,500m in the Himalayas fetches large amounts of money for the people who find it and has resulted in villages fighting each other to get hold of it. With wages in this part of the world being tiny the $35.00 a day that they can earn selling this fungus is considered to be extremely lucrative.
This is not the first time that ‘Himalayan Viagra’ has caused death indirectly as two years ago sixteen individuals died when they were caught in an avalanche of snow. The sad thing is, is that no clinical testing has ever proven that this Himalayan Viagra actually works and it seems that the villagers are collecting a completely useless erectile dysfunction remedy. It isn’t even cheap as by the time it gets to markets in China and other far eastern places the markups are huge.
The only medications clinically proven to have any effect on erectile function are Viagra, Cialis and Levitra and if you think anything else will work you are wasting your time and you are either gullible or stupid. Using useless and untested medications can even be dangerous.
Police in Nepal have arrested six individuals concerning the death of the seven people and it is hoped that justice will be done soon.
