In the tiny Asian nation of Singapore doctors are helping with a big campaign to assist men with impotence. The campaign is coining the word Vitalsexual to describe a man who is happy to talk through sexual problems and is not embarassed to get help and advice regarding sexual performance.
Many men will not even talk about sexual problems even with a doctor and bottle it all up inside them. Some of them said that they would only talk about these things witha doctor and that doctor would have to be a fellow man as talking to a woman would be too uncomfortable. The new initiative aims to make all men comfortable talking about erectile dysfunction and to make all men in Singapore "Vitalsexual Men."
Another initiative within the same campaign is to use a thumbs up and thumbs down approach for men when they see the doctor for erectile dysfunction. The idea is that instead of having to drag out the complaint from the patient, all the patient has to do is use the thumbs down signal to show that he is suffering from erectile dysfunction. This way the doctor is immediately aware of the problem and can get on with a diagnosis.
It is estimated that less than 40%of men in Singapore are willing to talk about sexual problems, i.e Vitalsexuals. A Senior Consultant Psychiatrist in Singapore said that many males did in fact care about performing well in bed but were unsure as to where they could get help. Erectile dyfunction is as much of a woman's problem as it is a man's.
Fifty three percent of the Vitalsexuals that were asked questions said that they would want to give more pleasure and performance to their sexual partner and forty five percent wanted better communication. Communication is vital when talking about ED as often the woman blames herself for it and thinks that she is not attractive anymore. This can make the woman worry and get stressed which in turn stresses out the man too.
The campainers are hoping that as the men of Singapore become Vitalsexual men they will get better at communication and the incidences of erectile dysfunction will decrease.
