the dog of a lifetime

An aging dog that you may well as heard of called Crackerjax is being given regular doses of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra. No, it’s not for what you are thinking, but in fact it is being prescribed because she is suffering from pulmonary hypertension and the drug has shown to be effective in preventing the dog from getting seizures. Crackerjax needed improved blood supply to her heart and lungs and her vet decided to prescribe the drug Viagra on a hunch that it might cure the problem. The good news is that the Viagra seems to be working and the problem for the moment has been cured. It is hoped that with a regular supply of Viagra the dog should live to old age without problems.

Crackerjax Gets Viagra

Crackerjax is famous for being ‘The Counting Dog’ and her owners say that while the Viagra is costing them over $600 a month they think it is well worth it because they said she is “the dog of a lifetime”. Crackerjax won the 4th place in the American national Purina talent contest and you can see her doing her counting tricks here. Ukmedix News has come across countless reports of individuals who give erectile dysfunction drugs to their dogs or other pets because they think it’s funny!  We abhor this practice because not only is it extremely dangerous to their health but it is cruel and could ultimately kill them. If you want to give medication to your pets you should always consult with a vet first.

In the majority of animals the use of Viagra will not have the same effect as it has on the human male and in the same way that we should never use animal medications, they should never use our medications except in exceptional circumstances.
