None of them have yet to be proved to be as effective as the Tamiflu drug...

While the bird flu drug Tamiflu is considered to be the most effective flu remedy for the H5N1 virus on the market today this does not mean that other drug companies around the world are not trying to come up with their own medications to work alongside Tamiflu should a worldwide pandemic occur. For the global community this is a very good thing, for while Tamiflu at present is recommended by the World Health Organisation, scientists and researchers say that it is possible that sometime in the near future H5N1 flu virus may develop a resistance to Tamiflu which would mean that other drugs could be in big demand.

New Bird Flu Vaccine Testing In China

Recently Ukmedix News has learnt of a bird flu vaccine being produced in China which has just received approval from the Chinese health authorities to go into the second part of clinical testing. The testing will check whether the drug is safe and effective and is being produced by Sinovac Biotech which is based in Beijing.

In the first section of the clinical trials which ended last year one hundred and twenty people were given the vaccine and none of them had any dangerous side effects. The new trials will involve nearly 900 volunteers and they will be testing the drug for its effectiveness.

If the vaccine is proved to be effective Sinovak Biotech will immediately start to produce large quantities of the vaccine to protect the Chinese people. It is likely also that there will be a big export demand and this could reap millions of pounds for Sinovak Biotech. Ukmedix News is aware of many different research and development projects on bird flu medication, however none of them have yet to be proved to be as effective as the Tamiflu drug. Tamiflu has been very extensively tested all over the world and has been on the market for some years now.
