Bird Flu Strains Almost Identical

Tamiflu and Relenza are known to be the best drugs for curing bird flu...

The H5N1 flu virus that recently appeared in Hungary on a poultry farm has been confirmed to be almost identical to the H5N1 bird flu virus that appeared on the farm in Suffolk in the UK. According to the scientists at the UK Veterinary Laboratory Agency who have done extensive research on samples from both bird flu outbreaks they are 99.96% identical.

Bird Flu Strains Almost Identical

What does this mean and why is it relevant? Well if the strains are almost identical it means that it is probable that there was a link between the outbreak in Hungary and the one in the UK. This in essence means that the virus was passed from farmed poultry to farmed poultry and did not come from individual outside sources like wild birds. What the scientists are trying to do is finding out how the virus got from Hungary to the UK and therefore will be checking up at the logs and records of all poultry movements from the two countries.

It appears that the bird flu strain that was found is also very similar to the strains found in other infected birds in Eastern Europe. The Health Authorities must now take steps to ensure that individual farms that have a bird flu outbreak are strictly quarantined and so the virus doesn’t spread. So far in Europe the bird flu has been limited to birds and has not jumped over to humans yet. Europe unlike Asia therefore has not had any deals from bird flu. Over 150 people have died worldwide from bird flu.

Tamiflu and Relenza are known to be the best drugs for curing a human form of bird flu. Governments all over the world as well as people who want to make certain that they and their families will be safe when the outbreak occurs are stockpiling them.

Ukmedix is a leading supplier of both Tamiflu and Relenza to concerned UK citizens.
