In all 44 people have died from the bird flu virus in Vietnam...

A few days ago Ukmedix News reported that a man in Vietnam died from the deadly bird flu virus breaking a period of eighteen months where there had been no bird flu deaths in the country. More bad news is that a woman of 28 has just died from the bird flu in Vietnam too making her death the second in the last ten days. The woman who was treated with Tamiflu in a hospital in the capital city Hanoi had expert attention from specialists from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

Bird Flu Strikes Again In Vietnam

Vietnam at one point was the country that reported the most number of human cases of bird flu but following an extremely strict campaign of bird vaccinations, the destroying of millions of birds and extremely rigorous public information campaigns the virus was the largely contained.  Just when the authorities in Vietnam were patting themselves on the back since they had not had a human case of bird flu since November 2005, it seems to have returned with a vengeance having infected five people, two of whom have died and two of whom have been released from hospital and given an all clear. In all 44 people have died from the bird flu virus in Vietnam making the country the second hardest hit nation from a bird flu perspective.

The health authorities reminded people that at no time was Vietnam completely bird flu free, even though it may have looked like that and it was imperative that farmers and local people kept an eye out for any possible poultry infections. Only with the cooperation of the people is it possible to keep the bird flu virus at bay. These recent outbreaks of bird flu in Vietnam have not been confirmed by the World Health Organisation but are likely to be in the very near future.
