In a tragic story, a family is suing a plastic surgery clinic called Lifestyle Lift which they say was negligent in treating their mother when she went in for a routine facelift. Mrs. Donna Ames died while being under an anesthetic just before the facelift was due to take place. /p>

In its defence Lifestyle Lift claim that Mrs. Donna Ames didn't disclose that she had a medical history of seizures and that she was allergic to certain anesthetics. They went on to say that Lifestyle Lift was "one of the safest facial procedures available."
Lawyer Andrew Meyer said that it was not right that Mrs. Donna Ames was led to believe that her facelift would be an easy cosmetic procedure but instead she had been dead within an hour. He claims that she was in good health that she had undergone a medical recently and that she had no health complications which would have increased the risk when having a facelift. Mrs. Donna Ames who left a grieving husband and three children could have been saved have the correct medical procedures been followed according to Mr. Meyer.
Lifestyle Lift who have around 40 clinics in different parts of America do thousands of cheap facelift operations every year. They have closed down the Lifestyle Lift office that Mrs. Donna Ames went to but have relocated close by and one of the two doctors involved in her bungled facelift surgery is still working there.
John Ames said that life without her is tough and the running the family is a big strain. He said that she went in to become beautiful and came out dead.

Second, a 'history of seizures' is not as relevant as the apparent failure of her doctors to recognize a local anesthetic overdose and, at the very least, administer oxygen and an anti-convulsant like Valium or propofol to stop the seizures.
Third, in almost all patients who admit to histories of local anesthetic allergy, the real explanation turns out to be the rapid heart rate from the epinephrine in the local anesthetic.
Fourth, the lack of monitoring, while deplorable and below the standard of care, was secondary to the failure to recognize and treat the apparent local anesthetic toxicity.

She asked him during the consultation if he's ever had any complications..he said no, not even one. That struck me as odd, so I decided to look into the doctor myself. Immediately after I told my mother about this article she called to cancel her appointment.
When asked why she had changed her mind, she said she was concerned about the Donna Ames lawsuit. (They then proceeded to blame that poor woman for her own death)When my mother asked why that wasn't disclosed to her when she had asked Dr Alex about any prior complications, the office worker(Rebecca)became agitated and responded "we technically don't have to disclose anything about the case because it's still pending" Not what you want to hear when you're going in for surgery the following week.
I can't express how grateful I am that I found this article and for the very informative comments provided by Dr Friedburg.
Our hearts go out to the family of Donna Ames.
