A man suffering from gynecomastia and who underwent breast reduction surgery to correct it is suing his plastic surgeon for $6 million. He said that not only was he left with scars all over his chest but that he had lost feeling in his nipples. Michael Bettinger claims that the surgery done by Dr Lawrence Reed has left him suffering from depression and anxiety./p>

This case which has been filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court will highlight the dangers of undergoing cosmetic surgery without fully understanding the complications involved. For example was Mr. Bettinger warned that by undergoing his surgery he could lose sensitivity in his nipples?
Another thing that this case will do is get people talking about whether men need nipples in the first place? Many men claim to have almost no sensitivity in their nipples while some other men say that they can become sexually aroused in the same way that women do when their nipples are rubbed.
There's no doubt that overall women have far more sensitive nipples than men do but is Mr. Bettinger going to be able to claim damages for the loss of sexual response due to the insensitivity of his nipples. The judge or jury hearing his case will have to decide for themselves whether Mr. Bettinger has a right to sensitive nipples or whether men have no need for nipples whatsoever and this will greatly influence any financial compensation.
At Ukmedix News we want to know what you think. Do you think men need nipples or are they just completely redundant?
