Very large breasts can cause back pain and posture problems

If you are thinking about having a breast reduction you might like to know that the sooner you do it the better! According to a researcher from the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions based in Baltimore medical complications as a result of breast reduction surgery are much more likely to occur in women who are 50+ when compared to younger women./p>

Dr. Michele A. Shermak who carried out this research with a group of colleagues explained that things like post operative infections, wound healing problems and the presence of dead skin [debridement] happened more often in women over the age of 50. The reason for this increase in post surgical problems is likely to be related to natural hormone level changes.

In all the medical records of almost 1,200 women who had breast reduction surgery were examined and the rate of complications was recorded in three separate groups namely for women under the age of 40, between the ages of 40 and 50 and those over 50. The results showed that the rate of infection was almost three times higher for women 50+ compared to those under 40. The research was published by the medical journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Women with very large breasts tend to have surgery for two reasons. Either they suffer from psychological issues and embarrassment because of the unwanted attention that the large breasts bring or they suffer from physical problems due to the extra weight that they have to carry around with them. Very large breasts can cause back pain and posture problems.

If your breasts make you feel uncomfortable in any way you should try and do something about them sooner rather than later. With modern technology there is no reason why you need to live with the burden of huge breasts. Your confidence, your posture and your quality of life will improve with breast reduction surgery. Choose your surgeon carefully!
