If in doubt just don’t buy it!

The dangers of using illegal and fake diet medication and slimming pills were highlighted recently in Malaysia after a 33 year old woman passed away from kidney failure that was caused by an excessive and uncontrolled use of prescription diet drugs. She had been using a diet medicine called Kintop that has been banned in Malaysia as it contained sibutramine a controlled appetite suppressant. Sibutramine when used properly and under medical supervision is not dangerous and has full approval from all relevant health authorities but when it is sold with out prescription by illegal and criminal operators you open yourself to a host of dangers and risks.

The Malaysian Health Authorities have actually banned Kintop and have sent out warnings about is use but it seems that this unfortunate woman never got to hear of them. The makers of Kintop even have the audacity to print on the labelling of the drug that the Malaysian Ministry of Health has approved it and that it makes no mention of the fact that the drug contains sibutramine. This is like not mentioning that a panadol had paracetamol in it and saying that it was a natural painkiller. This would obviously open up the pills to abuse and overdose and this is exactly what has happened in the case of Kintop.

Sibutramine is only safe to use when it is in the weight loss drug Reductil that is properly tested and approved. Reductil requires a prescription and must be used as part of a weight loss effort. Weight loss drugs will not do all the work for you and you will still need to watch your appetite and preferably get some exercise too.

What we feel is so important at Ukmedix News is that people are aware of the fact that there are many so called traditional and herbal medicines coming from the Far East that are not in fact traditional or herbal and are just using controlled drugs extremely dangerously and with very little regard for the lives and health of the people who inadvertently buy them.
