A drug that was recently tested by the Danish drug company Neurosearch was intended to be a serious rival to the weight loss drug Reductil. The new obesity drug called Tesofensine was however according to the first set of human results seen to be not as effective as the sibutramine drug made by Abbott Laboratories. The initial tests also showed that there were more side effects with this new weight loss drug then when using Reductil.

The research that was made public in a local Danish publication called BiotekAnalyse Weekly gave details of the research that was done on rats and the effects reported. It also reported on the effects of Tesofensine in human testing. When the research had originally been done using rats the results looked very positive however since the drug has been tested on humans things are not looking so good. When a just 1mg dose of Tesofensine was given to humans many of them reported high levels of anxiety and very dry mouth. Another side effect was that about 30 percent of those people who used the new weight loss drug suffered from constipation.
So far the drug company Neurosearch has not released a comment to accompany the research findings, and this may be because they are in discussion with potential investors and license partners. Reductil is viewed by many doctors as a last resort for obese and overweight people. In testing it has been shown to significantly reduce the appetite of the people who use it and this can help them go on to lose weight. Reductil is becoming one of the most illegally copied weight loss drugs in the world and as its active ingredient can be very dangerous if used incorrectly one must be extremely careful to buy the real and original drug and not buy copies of any sort.
Reductil must not be used by people who suffer from high blood pressure or by people who have any form of heart defect or problem.
