More health warnings regarding the illegal use of the weight loss drug Reductil and its active ingredient sibutramine have been coming into the Ukmedix newsroom this week. In Malaysia the Drug Control Authority recently informed the Ministry of Health that a so called traditional medicine called Kintop Capsules made by a company called Nature's Medicine in Malaysia actually has Sibutramine in it.
Sibutramine is a safe drug provided that it is used correctly and with doctor’s advice. It is not safe when a company that purports to show that the product is natural and even traditional has made it illegally in uncontrolled conditions. Sibutramine like many other medicines can’t be used by certain people for fear of dangerous side effects but it is ok to be used by the majority of obese people who wish to lose weight.
This new weight loss remedy called Kintop may have already harmed and even killed people who were unaware that they were taking sibutramine for their weight loss and just believed that they were taking some harmless natural diet remedy. The Drug Control Authority that tested the Kintop remedy said that sibutramion was not natural and could cause elevated blood pressure, a racing heart palpitation and lack of sleep. They also warned that Reductil must not be used by people who have a medical history of cerebrovascular illness or any cardiovascular medical disorders like cardiac arrhythmias, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, have suffered heart failure in the past or who have coronary artery disease. Reductil is also not to be used by people who have hepatic or renal impairment.
In the Far East the problem of dangerous and fake weight loss medications is on the rise and we have taken the step to advise all out readers not to use any weight loss remedy that comes from the Far East even if it says it is 100% natural, traditional and safe. These weight loss remedies are often sold online in spam emails and on illegal websites so watch out and never use anything without doctor’s advice. Your health is too precious to take risks with, so be warned and don’t get tempted by any ridiculous claims and low prices.
