The market for weight loss products in China is booming as with their new found properity people are eating more and more and getting fatter and more obese. This boom has led to the rise of many natural and herbal weight loss products being sold, most of them having no or very little effect on the weight of a person.
Recently Ukmedix has come across reports of a certain slimming remedy called Conting Qianweisu Slimming Herbs Capsule that claims to be a natural herb based remedy but is far from that. Following reports that the product looked suspicious and in line with the new clamp down happening in China and especially in Hong Kong on bogus health goods the Ministry of Health tested the remedy and in the laboratory it was shown that the capsules contained a prescription drug called sibutramine. Sibutramine is the active compound in the weight loss drug Reductil that is sold all over the as a appetite surpressant for obese people. In the United States Reductil is known as Meridia.
The danger of this product is that sibutramine is a dangerous drug if not used correctly and can be especially lethal if used by people with a history of heart illnesses and high blood pressure. The Ministy of Health said as well as being illegal (except in Reductil pills) the drug was not registered with them for use in this product and cause cause serious health injuries and even death if used incorrectly. Ukmedix warns anyone who purchases herbal and natural weight loss remedies to be very careful that they know precisely what is in them and to buy only from reputable stores.
