A word of warning to all aspiring professional athletes is that using weight loss medication could mean that you are banned from your respective sport. Not many people know for example that using the weight loss medication Reductil is not allowed and the drug was recently placed on the list of banned substances. Obviously Reductil is not a performance enhancing drug but nevertheless athletes are required to follow a code of conduct which bans them from using the appetite suppressant.

Just recently the Italian cyclist Lorenzo Bernucci failed a routine doping test when he was competing in the Tour of Germany cycle race. Not only has he been banned from the race but he has also been binned by his sponsors T-Mobile the mobile phone company as his contract specifically mentioned that use of banned substances would terminate their agreement.
Reductil is one of the best appetite suppressant drugs available and it is designed to help people who have serious difficulties in losing weight. It is definitely not designed for high calibre professional athletes to help them shed a pound or two and whatever Mr. Bernucci says he should not been using it. Reductil is designed to help obese people who have attempted to diet in a number of different ways but have failed.
If you are a professional athlete you should be extremely careful about using any medications even if they sound quite harmless. For example the hair loss medication Propecia is also a medication that is not allowed to be used by professional athletes.
In this case Mr. Bernucci said that he was happy to admit that he had taken the Reductil but had done so not knowing that it was actually on the prohibited list of drugs. We are sure that he will be far more careful about the medications that he uses.
