Taking your Propecia - Effective use
Iof you are now convinced that your propecia is the real deal the next step is taking the medication. We here at UK Medix have taken some advice from our patients and medical team and put together a few ideas on taking propecia for maximum benefits and results.
We have also created a brief on the background of Propecia for those who wish to refresh their knowledge on what Propecia is, how it works and the initial clinical trials that led to its launch.
What is Propecia?
Propecia is a pill for treating Male Pattern Baldness in men.
Who should take it?
If you think that you are losing your hair on the top of the head and wish to keep what you’ve still got (whilst also giving yourself the possibility of some regrowth), then you should consider (with medical supervision) Propecia.
When should someone start to take Propecia?
As soon as you realise that you are suffering from Male Pattern Baldness, generally speaking the earlier you become aware of the condition the better.
How does it work?
Propecia works by preventing your body from forming DHT, a substance that shrinks the hair follicles until they are no longer active.
What evidence is there that Propecia actually works?
Uk Medix have learnt from Merck that 90% of the men in clinical trials had visible results.
Taking Propecia
Merck advise that Propecia needs to be taken daily and should be taken for a minimum of three months before any results may be noticed. We have learnt here at UK Medix that the best results are in fact seen between 6 and 9 months of using the medication.
Always take Propecia with a full glass of water and have a designated time of day for taking it, such as just before breakfast or after lunch; this will help you to remember it daily and as it is just as effective with or without food, it doesn’t matter what time of day you set yourself to take it. If one day you do forget to take it, don’t double up the dose, just continue the treatment the following day as normal.
An important fact that UK medix think you should know about Propecia is that once you start on it you should continue indefinitely, it is understood that once you stop, any regrowth, will continue to fall out in the manner that it did in the first place.
If Propecia doesn’t work for you.
UK Medix learnt from Merck that Propecia was shown to work in 90% of men in their trials. To look at this in a different way, Propecia does not work in 10 % of men and if you believe you fall into this category it may be that the condition was not caught early enough.
There are other options for treating male pattern baldness, such as topical medications, surgical procedures or hair pieces. Whilst perhaps not as convenient as taking a daily pill they all are seen to produce beneficial results.
