Propecia can hide other performance enhancing drugs...

Another professional athlete has failed a drug test because of the use of the hair loss medication Propecia. Many people do not realise that if they are professional athletes they should not take the Propecia drug as its active ingredient Finasteride is a banned substance. Finasteride is not banned because it is a performance enhancing drug but because in some cases it can act as a masking drug which means that it can hide other performance enhancing drugs.

Propecia Must Not Be Used By Professional Athletes

The latest athlete to fail a doping test is the golfer from Italy Alessandro Pissilli and as a result he may well face a two year international ban on playing professional golf. The Italian Olympic committee confirmed that Alessandro Pissilli had failed the test. Finasteride is also used to treat problems with prostate glands and Alessandro Pissilli’s local golf club issued a statement saying that he had notified the authorities about the use of the drug and had been using it for nearly 2 years. It is not entirely clear whether Alessandro Pissilli was using the drug to cure hair loss or a problem with his prostate gland.

Ukmedix News would like to remind all athletes that they should immediately inform doping authorities if they start to use Propecia and it is possible that they will be told that they cannot take it if they want to continue in professional sport. Propecia is without a doubt the most effective hair loss medication to treat male pattern baldness in the world today. Propecia is made by the drug company Merck and it is estimated that around four million men are using the drug today. Propecia is particularly popular with men because it is so simple to administer in that it comes in the form of a simple tablet taken once a day.
