There has been a lot of press coverage over the last few days to the comments made by a 26 year-old man from Edinburgh called James who claims that the prescription hair loss drug Propecia caused him to become completely impotent even when he stopped using it. It is common knowledge that Propecia may cause sexual side effects in between one and two percent of men who take it but these adverse effects should disappear immediately, but in the case of James from Edinburgh he said that even when he had testosterone replacement therapy he still was unable to get an erection.

Well, what do we think about this at Ukmedix News?
Firstly it is important to remember that this is an extremely rare case and one of only a handful in which individuals claim that there's connection between Propecia and permanent erectile dysfunction. So before you go throwing out your Propecia you should remember that millions of men around the world use Propecia and when you think about the importance than men place on sexual function if there were any serious problems with this drug by now we would know about them.
Merck has responded to the claims of permanent erectile dysfunction and said that they are constantly monitoring safety data and as yet they have no reason to believe there's any connection between this recent case and Propecia. They said that it is likely that the problem suffered by James from Edinburgh was connected to something else rather than the Propecia drug.
It is possible to discuss the use of Propecia with other men who have made use of it on the Ukmedix Forum and here you should be able to get independent and impartial advice about its side effects. Propecia which is the only prescription hair loss drug available has helped millions of men around the world regain their confidence and get on with their lives without the worry of their hair falling out.
