Propecia. Is it for you?

The Propecia drug treats male pattern hair loss. Its prime area of effectiveness is on the top of the head and the mid-scalp area. In most cases Propecia will help to thicken hair presence on the scalp. It will also slow hair loss. Results will vary from patient to patient.

How does Propecia work?

Propecia prevents the growth of 5-Alpha-Reductase, thus preventing the formation of DHT. DHT (Di-hydrotestosterone) is present in higher levels in men who suffer from male pattern hair loss. DHT is one of the male hormones principally responsible for the development of the external male genitals. In adults it is also linked to:

· male pattern hair loss
· reduced growth of existing hair
· prostate enlargement
· acne.

Dosages of Propecia

The recommended dose is one 1mg tablet daily, with or without meals. If you miss your dose then continue as usual with one tablet to be taken the following day. No benefits will be gained in taking more than the recommended daily dose.
