Muslims And Jews Beware, Pig Blood Found In Cigarettes

pig blood in the filters of some cigarette brands.

Professor Simon Chapman from the Department of Public Health at the University of Sydney has just come up with yet another reason why many people, especially Jews and Muslims shouldn't smoke and that is because the cigarette filters could contain pig products.

muslims and jews beware, pig blood found in cigarettes

Professor Chapman specifically spoke about research done in Holland which came up with 185 industrial uses for pig products including the use the haemoglobin of pig blood in the filters of some cigarette brands.

While the amounts of actual pig contained in these cigarette filters was pretty minimal, both Jews and Muslims would definitely like to know exactly what they were smoking and the fact that they were not informed would be extremely distressing to them. Professor Chapman said that religious organisations would find it "very offensive". He also said that vegetarian smokers would also object to the fact that there were animal products in their cigarettes.

Professor Chapman said that it had been confirmed that a cigarette brand on sale in Greece definitely used pig haemoglobin in its filters because it was effective in removing dangerous chemicals found in the smoke. He went on to say that while tobacco companies listed the contents of their cigarettes on web sites they did not list all of the chemicals and compounds actually used to make the cigarettes.

There are thousands of different chemicals involved in the process of manufacturing cigarettes many of which have shown to be cancer causing and harmful to health. The evidence that smoking causes cancer, heart disease and thousands of other illnesses is so overwhelming that it is almost pointless trying to defend cigarette smoking as a pleasant pastime.

If you are a Jew or a Muslim and you are a smoker you should maybe consider contacting the head office of the brand of cigarettes that you smoke and checking that they are not using pig products in the manufacturing process but in fact if you want to be even more sensible, and use your head why not just throw away your cigarettes and make a pledge never to smoke again!

@Vegan: No one is forcing you smoke cigarettes. Attention-seek much? While I understand this news is distressing to some, to frame it terms of forcing you to do something agianst your will is absurd. If it bothers you so much, put the darn cigarette down.

it would be shameful if any 'Muslims' spoke out against it... they should firt speak out against themselves for smoking in the first place!
the MAJORITY of Muslim Scholars say it is Haram (Forbidden). if not that Makruh (HATED)
Allah has made it Haram to harm ourselves in any way shape or form.

so as a Muslim i am very happy with this article, if the warning from God wasnt enough!, hopefully this will stop smokers from killing themselves and those around them!

Thank you Professor Chapman !

cassie: not a vegan though i have 2 point out that its not so much as forcing smokers 2 smoke these brands its the fact that pig's blood is not listed on the pack as an ingredient. if it was, as a smoker i would pick another brand that doesn't contain it. simply put, it is actually the cigarette company's fault and they should be sued...

makruh came only 500 years ago... if its harmfull its haram, wherever it is, in pakistan, india, china or america... its harmfull for you, its haram.

500 years ago, they didnt know what we know today about cigarrets, specialy this new kind of cigarrets with adictives, chemicals and Allah knows what else they put in those cigarrets...

anyways, it has been considered makruh at the time, but today it is clearly haram, it is harmfull, gives cancer, harms others around who dont even smoke, sincerely, it could be even worse then pork, Allah Walam (He knows best)
