Man Avoids Breathalyzer Claiming Impotence Drug Side Effect

it was a good try at getting out of blowing in the breathalyzer machine

A Scottish man came up with a novel excuse not to take an alcohol breath test when the police stopped him on suspicion of drunk driving. Mr. Neil Macdonald claimed that because he had just taken a tablet of the erectile dysfunction medication Levitra that he was suffering from a very rare side effect of it, namely shortness of breath and this made him unable to blow into the breathalyzer machine.

Unfortunately for him however Sheriff Rajni Swanney at Greenock Sheriff Court reckoned that he was lying and following a trial Mr. McDonald was convicted of drunk driving. Despite the fact that his defence lawyers provided medical evidence to show that there are some clinical cases of shortness of breath when using any of the erectile dysfunction meds Viagra, Cialis or Levitra and even a doctor’s report confirming this, Mr. McDonald was deemed to be guilty and he will receive a sentence soon.

Well to Mr. McDonald’s credit it was a good try at getting out of blowing in the breathalyzer machine and one which required some pretty quick thinking as well as an amount of medical knowledge. It may be that he really was suffering from shortness of breath, however if he was able to walk and talk there was no reason why he couldn’t puff, even gently, into the breathalyzer machine. Possibly what he should have done was actually pass out from shortness of breath and start to go blue which would have made his claim far more credible.

We are pretty sure at Ukmedix News that this incident hasn’t stopped Mr. McDonald from continuing to use Levitra or any other erectile dysfunction medication and we reckon the presiding Sheriff Rajni Swanney felt the same.

If you suffer from shortness of breath when using erectile dysfunction medication you should always report this to a doctor. It may be that you are just overexerting yourself in the bedroom!
