The erectile dysfunction medication Levitra could improve erectile function, the effectiveness of penetration and the number of successful sexual intercourse episodes in men suffering from impotence as a side effect of diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome and dyslipidaemia according to research announced at the 24th Annual European Association of Urology Congress.

The lead researcher Professor Ian Eardley from the Department of Urology at St. James's University Hospital in Leeds explained that the research was based on patient information from thirteen different placebo controlled, double blind, randomised and flexible dose clinical trials done over the last few years.
The researchers had originally set out to see whether using medications for cardiovascular problems along with the Levitra drug had any impact on whether the Levitra worked as well and were happy to report that they not lessen the effectiveness or the safety of the Levitra drug.
The clinical trials were done using different doses of Levitra from 5mg to 20mg and all of them were well tolerated irrespective of whether the men were suffering from any underlying medical conditions or using any other medications. The evaluation of the extent of erectile function was done using the International Index of Erectile Function questionnaires.
Despite this research which shows that Levitra is equally effective and safe with other medications it should be noted that all of the erectile dysfunction medications, [Viagra, Cialis and Levitra] should never be used along with a certain group of medications called nitrates. It is essential that you tell your doctor about any other medicines you are using before he or she issues a prescription for your impotence medication.
Overall this research is good news for those men who suffer from erectile dysfunction due to diabetes, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome or dyslipidaemia because it shows that Levitra can help them as much as men who don’t suffer from these conditions.
