The Female Orgasm..Is It Useful Or Just An Evolutionary Mistake

in the same way as men don't need nipples why do women need to have orgasms?

One of the biggest questions that has confused scientists for centuries is why exactly it is necessary for women to orgasm? What is the actual biological or physiological function of the female orgasm which contributes to the evolutionary and reproductive process?

the female orgasm..is it useful or just an evolutionary mistake

In the case of men it is pretty obvious why they orgasm because it is part of the ejaculation process which contributes to sexual reproduction and the continuation of the human race but in the same way as men don't need nipples why do women need to have orgasms, [other than purely for pleasure]?

One of the theories which has been put forward by sexual experts is that the orgasm encourages women to bond emotionally with their man and therefore makes them more likely to consider having children. They have also argued that when a man makes a woman orgasm he feels comfortable with her and again is more likely to settle down and have children.

Another theory connected to the female orgasm is that it is designed to enable women to choose the best and most suitable man from an evolutionary point of view to have children with. If the man is able to make her orgasm then he is the right one?

A more practical way of looking at the female orgasm is that when a woman orgasms her whole body contracts and this helps sperm to go up the reproductive tracts and into the uterus and therefore ultimately producing a foetus.

There is however quite a lot of opposition to the idea that a female orgasm plays a part in the reproductive process of humans because so many women do not orgasm when having sexual intercourse and are in fact much more likely to orgasm when they are stimulated manually. If the orgasm was so important to reproduction why is it that actual sexual intercourse is not the best way to make a woman orgasm

Another controversial theory is that the female orgasm is an unnecessary byproduct of human evolution. The idea is that since men and women are physiologically identical in their first eight weeks of gestation there are leftover nerves which are really only required for men. The penis and the clitoris actually contain similar structures and nerve tissue but in the case of the penis it actually has an important function whereas the clitoris doesn't.

It's a bit like trying to explain why men have nipples. They have no function and yet they do give a little bit of pleasure in varying amounts in different men... a bit like the clitoris!

I imagine it's for the woman to enjoy sex and not feel that she is just being used for his pleasure. Would you stay with a man who you flet was so selfish as to think it was only for his pleasure? Readers please give me your answers, thanks

Used to be that a woman wanted to bond with one man so that she could keep other men away. She was bound to get pregnant so she wanted to keep her man loyal to her for security.
Now women do not need such a degree of security, at least until this society collapses like others have all through the ages.
Then it'll be back to patriarchy until society restores and gets to the point where we are now again.
