Premature Orgasm Is A Female Sexual Problem

3 percent of the women said that the problem was regular and severe

At Ukmedix News we have written plenty about how a significant percentage of men suffer from premature ejaculation and how this impacts on the quality of their sex lives, but one thing which we have never written about is how a small percentage of women actually suffer from the same thing!

premature orgasm is a female sexual problem

Normally the biggest sexual problems that a woman will have are a lack of sexual desire, sexual dysfunction and an inability to orgasm but a new study seen by Ukmedix News claims that some women orgasm too soon which leads to them not getting the most out of sex.

The study which was done by sending questionnaires to around 850 Portuguese women noted that 40 percent stated that they had sometimes orgasmed more quickly than they intended to during sexual activity, fourteen percent said that this had happened to them frequently and that 3 percent of the women said that the problem was regular and severe. The women who took part in this study ranged in age from 18 to 45.

The study led by Professor Serafim Carvalho from the Hospital Magalhães Lemos in Portugal is breaking new ground because there is no clear psychiatrist reference to premature female orgasm in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health unlike for male premature ejaculation. Professor Carvalho said that for this small group of women suffering from chronic premature orgasm the problem caused them serious distress in the same way that premature ejaculation could ruin men's sex lives.

The problem of premature orgasm is not very high up on the list of sexual complaints of women and most women with sexual problems complain about not being able to orgasm at all. In fact some studies show that as many as 50 percent of sexually active women have problems reaching climax.

At present the only drug to help women suffering from lack of orgasm is the prescription medication Intrinsa. For women suffering from too many orgasms and premature orgasms, there really isn't anything that they can do about it just yet. For men suffering from premature ejaculation there is the drug Priligy.

Women can orgasm several times so it should not be a big problem.
