New research done on the Intrinsa patch shows that women who use it after a hysterectomy can boost their libido and feel much sexier. The research that was done by Dr. John Buster from the Baylor College of Medicine based in Houston saw when women have their ovaries taken out they report are up to a 50 percent reduction in sexual desire and that a boost of testosterone can really help them.

In women who used the Intrinsa patch for 24 weeks it was noted that half of them said that they had experienced an extra pleasurable sexual encounter on average every two and a half weeks. In all nearly 270 women were given the Intrinsa patch for the research and another 270 women were given a placebo inactive patch. The women who were given the placebo patch reported only one extra pleasurable sexual encounter every five and half weeks.
The researchers said that their results showed them that the females using the testosterone patch also reported less anxiety and distress due to lack of sexual desire. The researchers published their work in the respected medical journal Obstetrics & Gynaecology and claimed that the number of women reporting side effects were the same in both those who used the testosterone patch and those who were using the placebo patch, except for the side effects of a slightly deeper voice or bad skin problems.
Testosterone is obviously far more abundant in men than it is in women; however it is still required as part of a female sexual makeup and a lack of it which occurs after hysterectomies is a major cause of female sexual dysfunction. Some women, it has been reported, are nervous to take a male hormone but they must understand that it is as much a required female hormone as it is a required male hormone.
Intrinsa promises to be the female Viagra and research shows that it does significantly help women with a low sexual desire. Intrinsa is not the same as Viagra in that it is a drug to boost sexual desire as opposed to sexual function which are completely different things, nevertheless sexual desire is important for a woman if she wants to have good sexual function, so the two things are somewhat interrelated.
