Following an agreement with a Russian drug firm called Valenta, Dong-A Pharmaceutical Company has begun to ship large quantities of its erectile dysfunction drug Zydena to Russia. Zydena which is an impotence drug that works in the same way as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra, has been on sale in South Korea for a number of years now and recently gained approval for sale and marketing in Russia.

Valenta that has a $50 million contract with Dong-A Pharmaceutical hopes to penetrate the market for erectile dysfunction medication in Russia and take market share from the other manufacturers. Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co which is the largest pharmaceutical company in South Korea hopes eventually to sell Zydena not only in Russia but also in all European countries and eventually when full approval is given by the Food and Drug Administration, in the United States.
Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co commented about the expansion of the market for impotence drugs in Russia and said that it was expanding at an annual double digit rate. Clinical trials are continuing in America and in Europe with the aim of eventual sale and marketing approval for Zydena in these jurisdictions. Zydena is a PDE-5 inhibitor with the clinical name of udenafil.
Zydena can be produced in South Korea far more cheaply than the drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra can be, and therefore if it were to come on sale in Europe or America it would be sold for far less, and thus could become extremely attractive for certain low income groups who complain about the prices of the regular impotence drugs.
In poorer countries where the real erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra are prohibitively expensive Zydena would be extremely popular and that is why the drugs should sell well in Russia.
